Tommy Markwardt

Franklin Thomas “Tommy” Markwardt, 48, passed away suddenly at his home in Tulsa on September 28, 2026. He was born April 28, 1978, in Oklahoma City, adopted by William and Barbara Markwardt, and raised in west Tulsa. Tommy attended Berryhill, where he played baseball and basketball. His talent on the baseball field took him to Bacone College in Muskogee, where he studied Fishing and Wildlife.

Tommy was a simple man who loved his family and the outdoors. He was a loving husband, a dedicated father, a loving brother and son, and a friend to many. He worked as a welder for Tri-State Industries and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and cheering on his beloved OU Sooners. One of Tommy’s favorite places was the family cabin at Lake Tenkiller. He spent much of his free time there and hoped to make it his home when he retired.

Tommy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Meldean Vore, and his grandmother, Betty Markwardt.

He is survived by his wife, Danielle, of the home; his parents, Bill and Barbara Markwardt; his son, Ethan Markwardt; his sister, Krystel Markwardt, and her partner, Karie; his niece, Samara Markwardt; and his nephew, Austen Abel.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 5, 2026, at Church on the Move West, 7314 W. 41st Street, Tulsa, OK 74107, with Pastor Chuck Burton officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Cookson Proctor Cemetery, 21070 W. Cookson Bend Road, Cookson, OK 74427.

The family is establishing a memorial scholarship in Tommy’s name to support a Berryhill baseball player. Donations can be made payable to Berryhill Baseball Boosters and mailed or dropped off at the Berryhill Administration Office, 2901 1/2 South 65th West Avenue, Tulsa, OK 74107.
