Hollis Bartlett Obituary (1931 - 2012)

Hollis Marshall Bartlett was born on June 5, 1931 to Marion Henry Bartlett and Jessie Leona (Pickens) Bartlett at Chandler, Ok. Hollis finished the 10th grade at Keota School. On May 21, 1949 Hollis married the love of his life as he often referred to her, Dovie Juanita Winklepleck. They were married in Stigler, ok at the courthouse. And he would often tease us by saying it only cost 2.00 dollars. They both made a living by picking cotton and cutting spinach or any farm work they could get. About 1952 they moved to Tulsa and Hollis got a job at Flint Steel Corporation. Dad worked for Flint Steel for 27 years until he was forced to retire early because of health issues. Hollis was a happy, easy going kind of guy. He loved God and his family dearly. Dad got saved when he was 18 years of age and raise his children in church and taught them to love God. Hollis served as Sunday School Superintendent, Teacher, Deacon, Church Janitor, he worked on the church building, and anything that would honor God. Hollis loved the outdoors; his hobbies were picking up pecans from his trees, moving the grass, raking leaves, weed eating, and vegetable gardens. Hollis is survived by his wife Dovie Bartlett of the home, two daughters Helen Jane Fears and husband Ron of Tulsa, OK, Darlene Gale Webb and husband David of Midland Tx, four grandchildren: Bryan Wing and wife Cricket of Broken Arrow, Kathy Fielder and husband Brent of Tulsa, Mandy Gregg and husband Jace of Midland Tx, Matt Webb and wife Arica of Midland Tx. Also surviving Hollis are five great grandchildren: Keely Fielder, Gavin Fielder, Tzion Wing, Sahara Wing and Conner Gregg. Sisters Verona Clyma and Iler Nelson of Keota, Ok, Hollis was loved by a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Hollis was preceded in death by his parents, Sisters Monnie, Fairl, Verla, Effie, Marley and Bethena, Brothers Lonnie, and Carol, Daughter, Kathy Jean and great granddaughter Kyrah Peyton.
