Ruby June Thompson Obituary (1938 - 2022)

Ruby June Thompson, 83 of Tulsa, passed away March 30, 2022. Ruby was born July 8, 1938, in Pickens, Oklahoma to Loy and Pauline Farmer. She graduated from Checotah High School. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack, her parents, brother, Raymon Farmer, and grandson, Hunter Bohannon. She is survived by her son, Tim Thompson and wife Angela of Norman, OK; daughter Jamie Bohannon and husband Harvey Jr. of Sand Springs, OK; brother Wayne Farmer of Tulsa, OK; granddaughter Melissa Sattre and husband Jeff of Owasso; grandson Braden Byford and wife Britta of Owasso, OK; grandson, Drake Moffit and wife Sydney of Owasso, OK; granddaughters Leah and Abigail Thompson of Norman, OK; grandson, Brandon Bohannon and wife Amber of North Carolina; great grandchildren Maylee and Oakley Sattre, Braylee and Braden Jr. Byford, Bailee Fancher, Hayzel Moffitt, and Cameron, Autumn, Branson, Clayton, and Elsie Bohannon, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Ruby lived in various areas of McCurtain and Pushmataha County. She was Valedictorian of her class and graduated from Checotah High School one year early. She moved to Morris, OK and began working for the State of Oklahoma. She met Jack Thompson and married in Okmulgee on September 24, 1960, even after a rocky first date where she slammed the door in Jacks face after he was one hour late. She finally gave in, and he treated her to the Dairy Queen in Okmulgee. She relocated to West Tulsa, where her and Jack built their home and she resided for 61 years. She devoted 31 years to The Department of Human Services and had an impeccable work ethic and served as supervisor the last 17 years. She lived out strong Christian principles and encouraged her family to follow. Her humble spirit, compassion and kindness was an example of the love of Jesus. Ruby raised her children at Carbondale Assembly of God, where they were taught the Word of God. Ruby was an excellent cook and could whip up a recipe off the top of her head that would always be a favorite. She enjoyed family vacations, puzzles, gardening, cross stitch, feeding the birds, and being with her family, especially the Grandkids. Ruby touched many lives and will be missed by many.
