Sand Springs, Oklahoma
Arthur Lee Edwards, Jr. was born March 25, 1942, and passed from this life on Sunday, September 8, 2013. Arthur Lee, known as Bud to family and friends, was preceded in death by his young son, Daniel Lee Edwards, and his parents, Arthur and Fern Edwards - all of whom were surely glad to see his contagious smile once again.
His spirit is carried on by his wife, Linda (Flesher) Edwards, and by his son, Michael Edwards, and his daughter, Kristin Johnston.
Bud leaves behind his sisters and brothers-in-law, Nancy and Jack Vest, and Diana and Lewis Pond; his daughter-in-law, Jammie Edwards; his son-in-law, Frank Johnston; his grandchildren - Stephanie Edwards, Stephen Edwards, Alyssa Dudek, and Anna Dudek; and his nieces - Liza Vest, Robin Coleman, and Caitlin Pond; his great-nephew, Alex Coleman; and his great-niece, Louisa Coleman. Bobbie Wright, the mother of his children, and Jason Wright, a son of his heart, are counted in his blessings as well as cherished friends and extended family members.
Bud was in the first class to graduate from the new Charles Page High School in 1960. He attended Oklahoma State University and earned his degree in Agricultural Economics, and he spent some years riding and raising horses. Bud began his career working at the family business and first Chevrolet dealership in Sand Springs - Anthony Motors. He went on to work and retire from State Farm as an estimator.
he was a 32nd degree Mason, Sand Springs Lodge. He enjoyed skeet shooting, fly fishing, and motorcycles. In his retirement, he became a "Harley" man who occasionally sported a ponytail and a Fu Manchu mustache. He was more afraid of not living life to the fullest than he ever was of death. He had a smile that can only be earned after a lifetime of professional charming. He always managed to make a new friend everywhere he went. He spent his last month in the hospital, and his favorite nurse, Alexis, was the last new friend he made. His family will always remember and treasure her.
He taught his family and friends that life was for living and encouraged us to take each day by storm - and atop a Harley if you could manage it. He reminded us that life is too short for sadness and anger and that it is never too late to forgive. Bud lived life full of spirit and loved others with his whole heart. His family and friends will remember his words in the days to come.
