Denzil Kenneth Hughes, age 81 of Sand Springs, passed from this life on Sunday, March 30, 2014 in Sand Springs. \r\r\n\r\r\nDenzil was born on December 28, 1932 in Colcord, Oklahoma to Vollie Dee and Martha Ella (Badger) Hughes. He graduated from Central High School and entered into the United States Army in 1953. After his honorable discharge Denzil went to work for Western Electric until his retirement with almost 40 years of service. Denzil was a member of the Tulsa Baptist temple for many years and served on the Financial Committee. He was an avid sports fan and loved watching college sports, especially Tulsa University Football and Basketball. He also loved woodcarving and fishing.\r\r\n\r\r\nHe is survived by his wife; Carolyn Hughes of the home, three sons; Jerry Hughes of Tahlequah, Kenn Hughes and wife Donna of Mobil, Alabama and Jeffrey Wayne Hughes of Plano, Texas, one sister Kay Wheeler of Sand Springs, Several other nieces, nephews and family members.\r\r\n\r\r\nDenzil is preceded in death by his parents and a brother Clenton Hughes.
